The head of the glass-lined reactor must be the right size, otherwise it can't be installed on the reactor equipment if the size is not suitable, let alone play any proper effect. So below I will teach you how to determine the size of the head.
The head of glass-lined reactor generally adopts standard oval head, and the wall thickness of the head is generally the same as the wall thickness of the cylinder. Under the special production process requirements of users, the head type of reactor can also adopt spherical head with flanges, spherical head with folded edges, conical head with folded edges and flat cover head.
Spherical head without folded edge is suitable for vessels with diameter DN less than or equal to 8000mm, because the diameter is too large and it is easy to warp and deform when firing. Flat cap is generally used in DN<500mm, and its wall thickness should be thicker than other kinds of heads in order to prevent the deformation of lining and firing. Generally, the head of glass-lined reactor should be removable, so that it is easy to maintain and repair the equipment. When the head is removable, its diameter should be larger than 1200mm, and a 300mm×400mm oblong manhole is usually opened. Of course, if there is a stirrer in the glass-lined reactor, the size of the manhole should be determined according to the diameter of the stirrer and other factors.
For the orifice connected to the outside, its axis should be parallel to the axis of the vessel. For the orifice on the head, like the inlet hole and hand hole, its axis is normal to the head. The opening position should not be in the transition area of the head, and the spacing between adjacent orifices should not be too close for the convenience of disassembly and installation. Adjacent welds should be staggered and left a certain distance as far as possible. For the opening reinforcement on the head, it should be determined according to the size of opening diameter and operating pressure, and generally adopt the method of increasing wall thickness to achieve it. In the case that the operating pressure is not high, the reinforcement at the open hole can be unnecessary.
The number of head orifices of glass-lined reactor should be as small as possible to meet the conditions of use. Generally, the number of head orifice should not be more than 5 holes for reactor diameter within 600mm, not more than 7 holes for diameter 700-1000mm, and not more than 8 holes for diameter 1200mm or more, so we should try our best to use more than one hole and reduce the number of head orifice as much as possible.
