Requirements for mixing length of glass lined reactor

The design of the stirring length of the glass lined reactor needs to be combined with the container structure and the type of stirrer. The specific requirements are as follows:

1、 Length requirements for anchor/frame mixers

The distance between the outer frame and the inner wall

The shape of the anchor foot should match the shape of the inner wall of the reaction vessel, and the outer frame should be as close to the inner wall as possible and kept equidistant. Generally, the width of the anchor foot should be ≥ 0.5DN (DN is the inner diameter of the reaction vessel).

Flattening degree of cross-section

When the anchor foot of the mixer is made of flattened pipes, the cross-sectional flattening degree a/b=2 (a is the length, b is the width) is used to optimize the shear effect. If the flattening degree is insufficient (such as in circular tube manufacturing), the mixing efficiency will significantly decrease.

2、 Reference for length of other mixer types

Pushing mixer

The diameter is usually taken as one-third of the inner diameter of the kettle body, suitable for solid-liquid suspension reactions.

Double helix slurry belt mixer

The length should cover the upper and lower layers of the material, suitable for high viscosity materials, and the rotational speed is generally ≤ 60r/min.

Flat turbine/impeller agitator

Suitable for gas-liquid phase mixing, the ratio of agitator diameter to reaction vessel inner diameter needs to be adjusted in conjunction with the rotational speed (usually ≥ 300r/min).

3、 Universal Design Standards

Correlation between nominal diameter and volume

The length of the agitator in the glass lined reactor is directly related to the nominal diameter of the reactor, for example, the outer frame length of the anchor agitator corresponding to a container with a nominal diameter of 1300mm is close to this value.

Speed matching

The speed range of anchor/frame mixer is 63-130r/min, and the length of the mixer needs to be designed in conjunction with the speed to avoid material deposition.

4、 Design considerations

Sealing and transmission device adaptation

The length of the mixing shaft should match the structure of the mechanical seal (such as P-type) or packing seal (such as S-type) to ensure the reliability of the shaft seal.

Standard specifications

It is necessary to follow standards such as GB/T 25025-2010 "Technical Conditions for Glass lined Equipment" to ensure that the length of the mixer is compatible with the pressure and temperature parameters of the container.

The above requirements take into account the type of agitator, material characteristics, and industry standards for glass lined reactor. Specific parameters should be based on the manufacturer's design documents or measured data.
