The difference between enamel and glass lining

1. Chemical composition

The silicon dioxide content of enamel is generally less than 50%, and it also contains a certain amount of opacifier, bubble and knot (unmelted quartz crystal particles). The silicate network structure is not complete. The silica content of glass-lined glass is generally more than 60%. The surface of the ceramic layer cannot contain bubbles and knots, and generally does not contain opacifier. The silicate network structure is relatively complete.

2. Abrasive

The enamel grinding additive contains a lot of suspending agent (6% 7%), electrolyte, opacifier, pigment, etc. In order to improve the density of the glass layer, the content of suspending agent (3%~3.5%) and electrolyte in the grinding additive is small, and there is no opacifier, pigment, etc.

3. Metal body

The enamel is generally made of thin steel plate with thickness less than 1mm. Due to the consideration of the rigidity of the enamel and the safety of the pressure vessel, the thick steel plate is generally used for the glass lining, and the thickness of the steel plate is more than 6mm.

4. Potting process enamel can adopt immersion enamel, spray enamel, flow enamel and electrostatic enamel. Due to the complex structure of glass lining products, mechanical or manual spraying is generally used.

5. Firing process

Enamel can be fired in intermittent or continuous firing furnace. Due to the original product structure and equipment dead weight, pond glass is usually fired in a gap firing furnace.

The firing temperature of glass lining is generally higher than that of Tang porcelain, and the firing times of glass lining are generally more than that of enamel.

6. Product performance

Tang porcelain products can only withstand weak acid and alkali solutions, and the general service temperature is not more than 100C. Glass-lined products can withstand strong acid (except hydrofluoric acid) and alkali solution, and the general service temperature is not more than 200C.
