Classification and application of direct heat exchangers such as cooling towers

(1) Cooling tower (or cooling tower) In this kind of equipment, the water whose temperature has been increased in production is cooled by natural ventilation or mechanical ventilation, and then recycled to improve the economic benefits of the system. For example, the circulating water in thermal power plants or nuclear power plants, as well as the cooling water in synthetic ammonia production, are recycled after being cooled by a water cooling tower. This method has been widely used in practical engineering.

(2) Gas washing tower (also known as washing tower)

In industry, using this type of equipment to wash gases has various purposes, such as using liquids to absorb certain components in gas mixtures, removing dust from the gas, humidification or drying of the gas, etc. But its most widespread use is to cool gases, and the liquid used for cooling is mostly water.

(3) Jet heat exchanger

In this type of equipment, the fluid with higher pressure is ejected from the nozzle, forming a high velocity. The low-pressure fluid is introduced into the mixing chamber and directly contacts the jet for heat and mass transfer, and together enters the diffusion tube. After reaching the same pressure and temperature at the outlet of the diffusion tube, it is sent to the user.

(4) Hybrid condenser

This type of equipment typically condenses steam by directly contacting it with water.
